IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Sunset

It's been a beautiful week with warm sunny days and beautiful sunsets in the evening. This has given me an opportunity to get a lot of things done outside. But the downside of it all is that between the wind and sun, I have had to do a lot of watering. My vegetable garden has come to life and my flowers are blooming and they all need a drink. This has also been my month to water the flowers around the post office, so I have been doing my share of watering!

Deer

Remember the picture I posted of the deer taking a nap in my flower bed? Well, the other day she arrived with two tiny fawns. Now I know why she was camped out there. The babies were so curious that it wasn't a problem for Dave to walk right up to them and snap their pictures. But mama deer gave her warning signal and off they scampered. Now, instead of one deer eating my plants, I have three!!

Dave's sister Leanna is still in the nursing home building up her strength so she can get back home. It has been nearly a month since we took her to the hospital. Meanwhile, I have been doing some much needed weeding in her yard and I got up early one morning before the wind came up and sprayed the driveway for weeds this week. We hope to torch the weeds after they have died and then get a load of gravel to have spread on the road. It really needs it and Leanna is unable to do all this by herself.

You are probably asking yourselves, "Where does she get all of her energy"? I wonder that myself sometimes. Well, I did have a thyroid issue and I was very sluggish so I went to my nurse practitioner and she prescribed a higher dosage of thyroid medicine and it has really given me a boost. Boy o' boy, I have more energy now and I feel a lot better. The problem is, this old body still has its aches and pains and it is still trying to catch up to that "boost".

Kubota

We had quite an episode with the Kubota tractor the other day. Dave was trying to put it on our flatbed trailer so that we can haul it to Leslie's in Silverton. They want to use it to spread bark dust around their property. Well, he got it half way up the trailer ramps he had built and one of them broke. There the tractor sat - one tire on one of the ramps and one tire dangling in the air. After many thought provoking ideas and with no answers, we ended up calling the tow truck to come over and help us out. Even the tow truck didn't have an easy time of it. But we finally got it aboard the trailer and Dave will now have to figure out how he is going to get it off.

Our next project will be to get the steamboat ready for the annual Fourth of July parade. July will be here before you know it and the boat needs a good scrubbing and there is lots of brass to polish. Dave did manage to get it out of the boat barn so at least that’s a start. He has to install a pump that we had re-built and it goes in a really tight space, so he’s been waiting until he feels ready to squeeze in there and tackle that job.

My daughter Lara emailed me the other day to report on Jadyn's school grades for the year. My gosh, we were wondering who that girl was and what she did with Jadyn. She had all A’s and one B+. For a child who was struggling to read a couple of years ago, she has significantly improved. We are so proud of her hard work. My other granddaughters all did great in school this year too. We sure don’t know where everyone inherited all the brains, because it wasn't from our side of the family!
Speaking of Lara, she and the girls are on a "road trip" this week. They started at Kah-nee-ta and are continuing on to explore the remains of the Oregon Trail and maybe even to the southeastern part of the state to Steens Mountain and Frenchglen.
