IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Steamers

Not a lot happening this week in my neck of the woods. We had company drop in on Sunday afternoon. Some steamer friends, Harv and Kim Lillegard and Wolfgang and Angelika Schlager who were on their way back from the southern Oregon coast with their steam boat. We got caught up with their lives and enjoyed their company out on our deck. They still had a three-hour drive ahead of them back to Washington so they couldn't stay long.

On Monday we left town early as Dave had his much dreaded procedure at OHSU in Portland. They placed "beacons" on his prostate to aid in his future radiation treatment. They assured him that he wouldn't set off any alarms going through the metal detectors at the airport. On our way in we stopped to visit with his sister Leanna who is still recuperating at a rehab facility in Beaverton. As it turned out she was rushed back to St. Vincent's the next day as she was experiencing internal bleeding. She is now back from St. Vincent's and is once again at the rehab facility. Thank goodness our daughter, Lara has been kind enough to step in for us and keep tabs on her.

We also got our international driver's licenses for our forthcoming trip while in town at AAA. Dave wanted me to have the license too and he asked me if I would be comfortable driving on the "left" side of the road while in England. My reply was, "would you be comfortable riding with me while I am driving on the left side of the road"? Hopefully, I won't have to do any driving.

We have had problems with moles in our yard this year with mounds of dirt everywhere. We have a good friend who catches moles for a living so he came by and set a few traps for us. He managed to catch one so far. Those little critters sure can make a mess of my flower beds.

Our weather has been especially nice this week so I have spent my allotted one hour or two a day outside trying to get caught up with yard work. I am slowly working my way around the property. Then it will be time to start all over!! This week I pruned the Escalonia hedge that is along the retaining wall. I used my electric trimmers this time and it made the job go by a lot faster. My vegetable garden is coming along nicely, the beets, carrots and beans have surfaced that I planted a couple of weeks ago and we have been eating lettuce. I even have tiny tomatoes on the vine and the cucumbers are starting to form. Oh, the joy of gardening.

We have our itinerary all completed for our trip, just a few "t's" to cross and "i's" to dot and we will be done. It is getting down to about a month before we leave and there are still a few things to do to get ready.

That's it for this week. Short and sweet! I hope everyone is enjoying this nice spring weather.
