IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

It's been a busy week for me.

Dave

Saturday night, Dave was MC for a local talent show, so I tagged along to watch. There was an array of local talent, from singing and dancing to comedy sketches. A couple of bands also played and one of the skits was the radio station K RAP who gave reports during the show. It was fun and they had a huge turnout (I think a lot of the audience were family members to some of the people in the show). Dave said he was glad when it was over because they had almost no opportunity to rehearse and so he was making things up as he went. It turned out to be a fun evening and he did well.

Sunday afternoon we took in a performance by the TAPA Theater group in Tillamook. We watched "Dead Ringer" which was a play set in the old West with some wild characters. There were only three performers in this play and they did an excellent job.

Now that April is here, the Garden Club is busy getting ready for its annual plant sale. We had our first work party on Tuesday where we divided and repotted plants. We also planted some fuchsia starts in hanging baskets for our sale. By the time the sale arrives (which is scheduled for May 9th) the fuchsias will be blooming and spilling over the sides of the baskets. We work in the barn at Alder Creek Farm where we stay dry from the many cloud busts we have had this week.

Jan

On Wednesday, I volunteered to help with the registration for the Red Cross blood drive at the Tillamook Creamery. The Red Cross already had a list of donors who had appointments and it was one of my jobs to sign them in and announce to the blood mobile that the donor had arrived. When the truck was ready, (they can only draw blood on two people at a time) they would let me know and I would send them the next donor. When people didn't show up for their scheduled appointments, I had to give them a call for a quick reminder. Most of the time those who didn't show had either cancelled or rescheduled a head of time. It seems my list was not up-to-date. We also had walk-ins, so I squeezed them in between the people who had appointments. All in all, we had 25 donors during the day. I was kept busy most of the day and it was enjoyable as I got to people-watch as they came through the Tillamook Creamery. Since I was located just inside the front door of the most popular tourist stop on the north coast, I was also asked for information, like where the restrooms were located (through the door to your left and follow the sign) and recommendations for a good seafood place (Fisherman's Korner in Garibaldi). That was extra duty, but it gave me a chance to talk with people other than the donors. While I was doing that, Dave was across town at the dentist getting a root canal! That went well for him, and he's feeling fine today.

Cats

I haven't given an update on our two feral cats lately. Tom and Jerry are still pretty wild, but they do let me pet and scratch them once in awhile. I can count on them being at the back door at meal time too. I stopped to get some flea medicine for them the other day because I noticed that they were scratching themselves. Tom had fleas so bad last year that he chewed most of the hair off his back and tail! Catching those two at the right moment to apply flea medicine is quite the trick. I did manage to get Tom taken care of, but Jerry has been a little quick for me. I grabbed him once and picked him up to give him his medicine and he rewarded me with some claw marks on my hand! They usually don't stick around the place but once in awhile they will sit outside the patio door and play "peeping tom".

Happy Easter to you! We are headed into West Linn to be with the family for Easter. It is also our granddaughter's birthday today; Jadyn is now the ripe old age of twelve, although I swear sometimes it seems like she is going on twenty! On Saturday, I plan on taking her out for lunch at Red Robin, followed by some shopping to celebrate her special day. My sister Jeanne's birthday is also today, so I hope she has a happy birthday too. She lives in England and so I sent her a card about a week ago and I hope she receives it in time. I also sent her a birthday package full of goodies that are unavailable in England like Jello and Tillamook Cheese.

While we are in town, we will meet with Dave's cousin who is an accountant and will get our taxes taken care of. Then Dave has a doctor appointment and we few more errands to run before we head back to the coast Monday afternoon.
