IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

This one is going to be short. There just wasn't much happening this week in my neck of the woods. Our beautiful spring weather has been keeping me busy out in the yard pulling weeds. So far, the weeds are winning as I am only good for about an hour and half.

I have also been working pulling weeds in Wheeler's Waterfront Park. We had a successful work party on Wednesday. There were five of us working pulling weeds, transplanting shrubs and pruning hedges. I also exchanged the flower pots at the Post Office. We had planted some daffodil bulbs last fall in some pots and they were ready to show off. So I took away the flowering heather and replaced them with spring flowers.

Last Friday, I thought I was supposed to volunteer with the Red Cross Bloodmobile at the Tillamook Creamery so I showed up at 10:00 a.m. and no one was there! Apparently I got the dates mixed up because they had been there on January 27th while we were gone on our trip instead of February 27th. A miscommunication, so since I was in Tillamook I did a little grocery shopping at Fred Meyer before I returned home.

Today, we are headed up to Bainbridge Island, Washington to attend a friend's funeral on Saturday. Tom and Marge Kane were also in the Northwest Steam Society and we became good friends over the years. She was on a road trip to Santa Barbara with her husband when she had a stroke and passed away. I will miss her friendship.

We noticed that the herd of elk was on the island this week eating the fresh spring grass. This is the first time we have seen them there this year. It will soon be time for them to have their babies which they do on the island for more protection.

I know some of you love the pictures I post, however I don't have any this week. I will try to do better in the future.
