IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Jack-o-lantern

It's Halloween so watch out for all of the ghosts and goblins that will be lurking about! I really miss not having any kids coming to my door on Halloween. In this small town, there aren't many kids and those that are around don't venture up our street. So I guess I will have to eat the trick or treat candy that I bought!

It has been kind of a quiet week. I had a dentist appointment to get my teeth cleaned in Hillsboro on Monday so we drove to the valley for that. No new cavities and a clean bill of health for me. I don't have to go back for six months. The drive into the valley was beautiful, the sun was out and the leaves on the trees up in the coast range are starting to turn colors.

On Tuesday I had a couple of things going on. Dave and I have been working on "special" projects and we finished with one of them. I had a friend come over and help me put the finishing touches on it. I would show you a picture but it is going to be a surprise and I don't want anyone finding out about it by reading it on my journal. I promise to show you a picture after we deliver it. We are making things for Christmas gifts this year, so Dave can't show pictures of anything he's been working on in the wood shop either! Frustrating!

I also attended our monthly Garden Club meeting on Tuesday. We had a guy from the Seaside Seven Dee's Nursery talk to us about putting our gardens and flowers to bed for the winter. It was very informative and even though I am a Master Gardener, it is always helpful to get tips from the professionals. It got me all motivated to plant the daffodil bulbs that I had purchased a while back. I will enjoy them come spring time. Mixer

Speaking of Master Gardeners, the group is having their annual tea in a couple of weeks. It is a fund raiser to raise money for scholarships. Anyway, I signed up to make a batch of Oatmeal/Cranberry/Orange scones. Since I have never made scones before, I thought I had better make a batch to see how they turned out. Not bad, but a little on the dry side. I think on the next batch, I will add more fruit. Anyway, I pulled out the old hand mixer that belonged to my mother-in-law that I found in the cupboard. The mixer is still in good working order and I would guess that it is easily over 50 years old. The mixer feels like it weighs about 20 pounds and I really get a good workout while using it!

Jordyn

Dave has been busy rehearsing for a performance of Winston Churchill speeches that is going to be done on the 11th of November and again in December in Nehalem. Even though there are about a dozen people performing, he is the narrator and so he has a pretty big part. He bought a new tuxedo to wear and so he is going to look pretty spiffy during the presentation. They put this show on a few years back and everyone seemed to enjoy it so it is back by popular demand.

Lara sent this just as I was writing this week's Journal. We've been after Jordyn to let us pull those loose teeth for the past couple of weeks. One of them was so loose that it was actually pointing sideways! We've been teaching her the words to "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth". She now has the smile to go with the song!

The Blazer season is once again upon us. Dave has been busy getting out orders for the road broadcasts and sending out contract agreements to the people we hire. He isn't working the home games anymore but he still is contracted to produce the road broadcasts.

We have a whole weekend coming up that has nothing scheduled. How did that happened? Maybe we can take in a play or go out to dinner for something to do. Hint, hint.
