Yahoo! IT'S FRIDAY MY FAVORITE DAY!!

I made it through another plant sale. Last Saturday, the Nehalem Bay Garden Club had their annual sale. I helped set up on Friday and then when the doors opened at 9:00 a.m. the next morning, I was ready to help with questions and directing people to what they were looking for. All in all, it was a good day and we made a little cash to help our community.

Jaysa

On Mother's day, Dave and I got up at the crack of dawn and drove into West Linn where our family was gathering to celebrate Mother's Day as well as Leslie's, Jaysa's and Jason's birthdays. We had a brunch as Leslie had gotten tickets to attend the Portland Timbers soccer game which started at 11:30 that morning. Later that afternoon, since we were planning on staying in town for a couple of days, I took Jaysa shopping for her 9th birthday and then out to Red Robin for a late lunch. She loves going to Red Robin and vowed she wasn't going to leave the place until they sang "Happy Birthday" to her.

Since we were staying in town until Tuesday, on Monday we made plans to visit with our dear friend, Kay and her daughter, Terri. Kay had fractured her hip a few weeks prior and was still mending from that, but all in all, she looked great. A lot of that can be attributed to her daughter's excellent care. Terri is a real advocate for her mom and Kay is very fortunate to have her there with her. After our visit, we ran a few errands.

Tuesday noon, Dave had an appointment with his oncologist who was very pleased with Dave's progress. His blood work looks great and he has gained more weight. He still has the numbness in his feet from nerve damage due to the chemo treatments and was given a prescription to try to alleviate that. If he doesn't show any signs of improvement in a month, then he will go off the prescription. We are hoping that the numbness will decrease though.

Tom & Jerry

After being gone for a few days, the two feral cats, Tom and Jerry were glad to see me. I have my sister-in-law Leanna who lives next door, feed them when I'm out of town but I think they like me to feed them. They are always there at the back door, first thing in the morning and around dinner time. Also, since I wasn't home to fill the bird feeders, all my little Goldfinches have left. Hopefully they will come back. I saw a pair of Evening Grosbeaks at the feeders the other evening and they were so beautiful with their painted wings.

Boy has it been hot down at the coast the last couple of days. I managed to get some "outdoor" things done. I planted the rest of my plants that I had bought and put my fuchsias outside. I had them in the greenhouse until the weather got a little warmer. But it didn't get a little warmer, it got a LOT warmer in a big hurry! It was nearly 90 here at the coast Wednesday. Everything needed watering when I got home because of the heat. I had to quit working outside on Wednesday because it was TOO hot!

I also painted the inside of the railing on our deck this week. The paint had started to peel and so I sanded it down and after a coat of primer, I freshened it up a bit with using the paint I had left over from the last time I painted it. It still needs paint on the outside of the rails, but I was only able to do the inside. I don't think I can make it up a ladder to do the outside. I will probably have to hire someone to do that part. I still have to paint some of the decking because we had some boards replaced last fall. There is always something to do around here besides pulling weeds.

Even though I have been to two plant sales, I still need to get a few more flowers and vegetables for my garden. I planted my lettuce and one tomato plant and if the weather stays warm, I may be able to get the seeds (beans, carrots and beets) planted in the ground soon.
