IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Jan, Dave

Jadyn

We had a great weekend as we took in a Blazer game last Friday night. It was great seeing everyone again and the Blazer organization was glad to see us. We were shown on the "big screen" during the game and Dave was asked to engineer the third quarter of the radio broadcast just for old time's sake. We also watched our granddaughter, Jadyn perform during half-time with her dance group.

We ended up spending the whole weekend in town. Saturday, I took Jadyn out shopping and then lunch at Red Robin for her eleventh birthday. She always looks forward to our "date" for her birthday. She was so excited because she got a smart phone for her birthday and so she spent a lot of time texting everybody. I don't know if that is a good thing or not!

Sunday we got up early and took in a couple of soccer games. Our granddaughter Paige was playing at 10:30 in Tualatin and another granddaughter, Jaysa's game started at 11:00 in Wilsonville. Luckily, we were close enough to each location so were able to watch half of each game. We didn't get to see Paige play very much as she hurt her shoulder during the game and sat out. She is okay but it is kind of scary to see her get hurt. They have a chiropractor whose daughter also plays on Paige's team and he was there and was able to massage her shoulder. That helped as she is okay to play again. Jaysa's game was kind of one-sided but she is only eight and is learning about the game. She is learning her soccer skills and if she keeps it up, I think she will turn out to be a good player.

Paige

Speaking of Paige, she turned 12 years old this week. I say this every time one of the grandgirls has a birthday, but I can't believe she's almost a teenager! We lifted these pictures from Leslie's Facebook page - that works better than trying to catch her during a soccer game! Happy birthday to my Paigey-poo, we'll do lunch next week!

After the soccer games, we headed back home by way of Scappoose. Scappoose is kind of out the way but I wanted to finish using the gift certificate that I had received a year ago to a nursery near there. After checking out the nursery, we took a drive cross country to Vernonia and then joined Highway 26 to head home. It was a lovely drive and I had never been that way before. Since we missed lunch, we stopped at the Elderberry Inn for an early dinner. I couldn't resist getting their famous blackberry cobbler for dessert.

Shelf

The weather this week has been fantastic. I was able to get out in the yard and get some weeding done and during the work party on Wednesday, a group of us potted up some geraniums that I had picked up for the planter in front of the Post Office. They are just starter plants and I will keep them in my greenhouse for a couple of weeks until they start to bloom. While I was doing that, Dave got busy and built me some much needed shelves in my greenhouse to store these plants. It is so nice to have the extra space. I had also bought some fuchsia starts and got them potted and hanging in the greenhouse. So right now there isn't much room left in the greenhouse for anything new.

We have a full weekend ahead of us. We are going to a play in Tillamook (TAPA Theater) on Friday night and then head into Beaverton on Saturday to watch Paige play in a soccer game. We will spend the night with Leslie and her family in Silverton as Ashtin has a basketball tournament in Lebanon on Sunday morning that we want to watch. Boy, trying to keep up with all of these granddaughter's activities really keeps us busy. I don't know how Leslie and Jason do it. They also have another three basketball games and one other soccer game during the weekend that we won't have the time or the energy to see!
