IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

April showers bring May flowers, so they say. I hope so because I am really, really tired of all this rain. It was raining so hard this past week that the rain gutters couldn't keep up with it. I finally climbed up on a ladder to check to see if they were plugged up.

I spent Saturday afternoon taking my Boaters Safety test. I had attended the class the week prior but didn't stay around to take the exam. I planned on taking it on line but as it turned out it was $40 to take the exam on line and so I talked to one of the instructors into giving it to me and I took the test at her home. Thank goodness I passed (97%) so I can take that off my plate. I don't know if I will ever use my boating license but it is good to have in case I need to.

We drove into Hillsboro for a couple of appointments on Monday. I had my teeth cleaned and while I was getting that done, Dave saw the neurologist about the nerve damage to his feet. Apparently one of the effects of the Chemo treatments is damage to the nerves, especially the feet. Dave now has little feeling in his feet and so it has been difficult for him to walk without a cane. The neurologist wasn't very encouraging and said he may or may not get the feeling in his feet back, only time will tell. Dave is still going to the physical therapist twice a week and is getting some strength back but it is a slow process and he gets very discouraged.

It turned out to be a nice sunny day on Wednesday as the spigot in the sky was finally turned off and I was able to schedule a work party at Waterfront Park. There were about five of us that showed up and we got a lot of weeding done. The group put our heads together and decided what kind of plants to put around the flag pole in front of the Post Office. We had the public works guy build a frame with some boards to support the nine or so flower pots we have to go around the flag pole. We have enough pots to change the plants every season. Right now there are daffodils for spring and I am going to pick up some geraniums for our summer pots.

I am also helping with the Nehalem Bay Garden Club's annual plant sale that will be coming up the Saturday before Mother's Day. We have been meeting every Tuesday afternoon. A few of us have been transplanting different plants that were donated from the various gardeners in the club and we made up some fuchsia baskets too. I did manage to plant some Snow Peas for myself this week but it is still too early to plant my garden.

We are leaving today for a trip into town. We got Blazer tickets to the game for Friday night so we can watch our granddaughter, Jadyn perform at halftime. It will be fun to see all the familiar faces at the game that we have missed during this season and Dave has been asked for an interview on the radio pregame show.

We have lots of birthdays in April so want to mention that Thursday was my granddaughter Jadyn's eleventh birthday. She is growing up so fast and is turning out to be a real sweetheart. Thursday was also my sister, Jeanne's birthday. She is in England and for her birthday, her husband Bob took her to the Cotswolds. I remember going there and it is a lovely place. Then next week (April 9) another granddaughter's birthday, Paige who will turn twelve. Then to round out the month, my older sister's birthday is April 19th. A busy month for birthdays.
