IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Jaysa

Nurse Jadyn

Last Saturday I spent the whole day from 8:30 to 5:00 in my Boat Safety Class. The state requires a card to run a power boat and while I don't think I'll be doing that very often, Dave decided it would be a good idea for me to take the class. There were six of us taking the course offered by the Coast Guard Auxiliary. The room was at Garibaldi City Hall and was unheated and I froze to death most of the time. At the end of the class we were to take a test to see what we had retained. I opted out as I was so tired and miserable and my brain was mush by then so I decided to take the test on line. Little did I know that it would cost $40 to do so! No one mentioned the cost when they said online testing was an option. So, after negotiating with the class instructors, I am now going to take the test from one of them on Saturday. I sure hope that I have retained most of the knowledge that was poured into me during the class and I pass!

It was Spring Break for the granddaughters, so we had three of them spend part of the week with us. Lara came down on Monday with Jadyn, Jaysa and Jordyn. While they were here they managed to hit one of the days where it actually was sunny and dry. The rest of the time they had to do indoor stuff. It was fun to have them here. Jaysa helped me make brownies one day and Jadyn kept Granddad on his toes doing his exercises from his physical therapist.

I am so proud of my granddaughter, Paige that I am busting my buttons. She was invited to try out for the Olympic Development Team Pool in soccer and she made it! She has worked hard and dedicated herself and she is one of the youngest players selected. She will practice with this team and compete at the state level. Way to go Paige!!

Except for a couple of sunny days, the week has had its share of rain and wind. I thought we were going to wash away a couple of times because it was coming down so hard. I even had to cancel the Wednesday work Parks work party because of the weather. Between the rain showers, the sun did make an appearance and Dave was able to take a picture of a beautiful rainbow in front of our house although it was fading fast while he got the camera.

I have been trying to come down with a sore throat these past couple of days. Dave is still getting over his chest congestion and so I might have picked up his bug. But also being so cold and miserable last weekend during the class might have contributed to my miseries as well.

Next week, it will be a couple of trips into town. A drive on Monday to Hillsboro as I have a dental appointment and then on Friday as we have tickets to the Blazer game. Our granddaughter Jadyn will be dancing during halftime so we are going mainly to watch her and there so happens to be a basketball game going on. It will be our first game since Dave had to quit working the broadcasts, so it will be nice to see everyone again. We will spend the night and then return home sometime Saturday afternoon. Jadyn will be eleven on Thursday so I plan on taking her out and going birthday shopping and lunching at Red Robin while I am in town.
