IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!

Jan & girls

Jaysa, Jordyn

We had a nice surprise over the three-day weekend. My daughter Lara brought her three girls down for a visit. It was rather stormy out with lots of rain and wind and it was rather scary for them. They are used to coming down here in the summer time when the weather is nicer and they can spend some time at the beach instead of being cooped up in the house. So Jadyn and I baked a cake and the younger two played games on the computer. There is always something to do and even dragging out the old toys that they don't see very often was entertaining. Unfortunately, Jaysa got sick so they headed back home early Sunday so they wouldn't expose Granddad to any bad bugs. Lara made it back home without any further incidents but then Jaysa ended up at the ER the following day because she was having pretty severe stomach cramps. They couldn't find anything wrong and she was better that evening. She was excited to wear her ER bracelet to school the next day. Kids can recover from being sick so fast.

My other two granddaughters, Ashtin and Paige are busy with their lives as well. Ashtin is on the freshman basketball team at Silverton High School and is the highest scorer on the team. We got to go to one of her games awhile back and she is fun to watch. Her sister, Paige's soccer season started last week. I guess her first game was played out in a rain and wind storm and according to her mom, was pretty miserable. The player would place the ball on the ground for a corner kick and the wind would blow it away! But, Paige loves the game so much she would play it in any weather! I think I will wait until the weather gets a little warmer before I go watch her game.

We are beginning to feel like the Tillamook General Hospital is our second home. We had an appointment for Dave on Monday to get his blood checked and his platelets were so low that the doctor decided to give him a unit of platelets the following day. So we spent a good deal of time at the hospital on Tuesday getting that done. I had scheduled to come to Tillamook anyway on Tuesday as I needed to attend the Master Gardener's class to keep up with my certification. So while I was learning about plant botany, Dave was having his transfusion. When I returned to pick him up, his red blood count was still pretty low, they scheduled him to come back the next day for a couple of units of red blood. So Wednesday, we were back at the Tillamook General Hospital. He is feeling better after being refueled with more blood. I think I can just put the car on auto pilot and it could find its way back to Tillamook just fine.

It's been raining and windy most of the week. I had to recover and haul branches away after the wind storm. So I have been getting a lot of indoor stuff done. I took all the nick-knacks off the top kitchen cupboards for their annual dusting and cleaning. That's always a fun job (not) and I should probably do it more than once a year. I also need to get busy and gather stuff up to get our taxes ready for the accountant. We have an appointment with him the middle of March. Ugh! I hate doing taxes but that is only once a year too.

Not much else going on here...
