IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

I am writing this journal a couple of days early as we are heading into Portland for Dave has one more Chemo treatment and won't be able to get the journal out on Friday as usual. Yes, one more Chemo treatment!! Dave is feeling pretty good right now, but he always does just before he gets another treatment. Thank goodness we are almost done with this.

Jordyn

Jordyn

We had a real nice weekend. We went into town Friday night and spent the evening in West Linn so we could celebrate our youngest granddaughter, Jordyn's birthday on Saturday. It sure is hard to believe that she is six years old already. She received a little electric Mini Cooper car from her parents for her birthday and she was so excited. It is really cute and it didn't take her long at all to figure how to drive it. After the party, we headed back to the coast. Jordyn was having another party later on with all her friends at Pump it Up.

Along with the rest of the world, we watched the Super Bowl on Sunday. It was kind of a one-sided game and I am glad that the Seahawks won. I always enjoy watching all the commercials but this year either I am getting older or they are marketing to a much younger group because some of the commercials were really weird. But my favorites were the Budweiser ads.

On Monday we had an appointment with the Tillamook hospital for Dave to get a blood transfusion. His blood counts on Friday were pretty low so they ordered a unit of blood so he would be all pumped up for his next treatment. Fortunately, his counts were up again on Monday, so he didn't have to have the transfusion after all. That was a pleasant surprise as usually it takes about 3-4 hours for the transfusion and I was planning on spending most of the day in Tillamook. As it turned out, we were home in time for lunch!

I had made an appointment with the Jeep dealership to have the oil changed in my car on Tuesday. I was also requesting them to check out the Bluetooth system in the car because it hasn't been working. It wouldn't pick up any calls in the car and I would either have to pull over alongside the road to answer or let the call go into voice mail while I was driving. With the new law these days, you don't want to get a ticket while driving and talking on your cell phone. Anyway, the dealership checked it out and it was decided that it was the phone and not the Jeep, so after the oil change I went to Verizon and the clerk was able to reset the cell phone and now the Bluetooth and phone are once again talking to each other. At the dealership, I did find out that the brakes are getting pretty bad, so that will be the next thing we get to get to spend money on! We'll wait until after Dave's treatments to get it done.

In spite of the freezing weather, the Wheeler Parks Committee managed to have a work party on Wednesday. We had a nice turnout and got lots of things pruned. Now Waterfront Park looks like it is ready for spring to arrive. I need to get a few more things pruned up around my yard but have been too busy or too lazy to want to get outside in this cold weather. But I did discover once I am committed, it isn't bad being outside at all as long as I am bundled up.

Here are a couple of other pictures: While we were in town on Friday, we made a quick trip to the cemetery as it was Dave's Mom's birthday on January 31st. She would have been 99 years old and she has now been gone for ten years. I can't believe how the time flies. I miss her and think about her often.
Also, while going through the camera looking for pictures from Jordyn's birthday, Dave found this one of me with my daughter Leslie that I thought I'd share with you.

As I mentioned at the beginning, we are headed into Portland for Dave's final Chemo treatment. That ought to be interesting because they're predicting snow that day. Anyway, he has a lab test and a doctor's appointment on Thursday afternoon and then will probably be admitted into OHSU for his treatment either Thursday or Friday. We won't know what will happen next until we see the doctor. So, I will be staying in West Linn for the weekend and part of next week while he is doing that. Because of that schedule, I'm not sure when next week's journal will be posted, but I'll try to get it out on time.
