IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Here is an update on Dave. He had an MRI last week after his doctor appointment to find out about the constant headache that he had. As it turned out, the MRI showed that since his last MRI on his brain which was in October, he has had a slight stroke. Nothing that he felt or any side effects, but just the same still worrisome. The doctor thinks the headaches were caused by the spinal tap that they do before each Chemo session. Meanwhile, the headaches have subsided. Since the flu has started and has been so prevalent there has been a shortage of beds up at OHSU, so he finally was admitted and started on his fifth Chemo treatment late Friday. He finished up with that session last Wednesday and then we headed home. One more to go.

As been the case, he feels awful the first week after his treatment and so spends a lot of time vegging out. Just when he gets back to his old self again, it is time for another Chemo treatment. Thank goodness he only has one more to go and then maybe - just maybe - we will be able to get out lives back to normal.

While Dave was in the hospital doing his thing, I hung out at my daughter's in West Linn. The granddaughters had Monday off because of Martin Luther King's birthday, so I took them to the movies to see "Nut Job". This was an animated film about the adventures of squirrels and such that lived in a city park. It was a cute movie and the granddaughters enjoyed it very much.

I got a chance to get some shopping done while I was in town. I got a birthday gift certificate from Coldwater Creek for $20.00 in the mail and I could hardly wait to spend it. I ended up spending $80.00 from my $20.00 gift certificate! And you know what? It wasn't even my birthday, but I wasn't going to tell them that. I also made a run to Costco to get stuff for my Costco supply room. I was almost out of toilet paper, paper towels and Kleenex! Then I went to my most favorite store, Trader Joe's since we are miles away from them to stock up on a few things. The car was pretty loaded by the time we headed for home.

I attended a couple of basketball games that two of my granddaughters played in too. Ashtin is on the freshman team at Silverton High School so we got a chance to watch her and Jaysa plays on a third-grade basketball team. She was so proud of herself as she made her first ever basket. I was proud of her too and was glad I was there to watch her do it.

We got back to the coast in time for me to get a haircut and attend the Park and Rec. meeting Thursday a.m. I am the chairman but haven't been able to be there for a couple of months. It turned out to be such a beautiful winter day that I decided to spend one afternoon out in the yard pulling up tiny Bitter Crest weeds. These guys will go crazy if you don't keep on top of them. They have this tiny white flower and once they go to seed they literally explode when you touch them and you have twice as many next time. It is best to pull them out before they get to the flowering stage. I also cleaned out the garden bed and added more mulch to the soil. I need to get some pruning done around here so that is next on my agenda.

The two feral cats were glad to see me and I was glad to see them too. One of the cats has fleas so bad that he was chewing the hair off his back, so I stopped at the vet and got some flea medication for him. Luckily he trusts me enough for me to pick him up to apply the medication. Hopefully this should do the trick.

No pics this week. .
