IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

With the flu season in full swing, we have been keeping ourselves at home most of the time. Especially Dave, as he was unable to get the flu shot this year. Dave hasn't felt like going anywhere or doing much of anything any way this week which is typical right after his Chemo treatments and the last thing he needs is to come down with the flu.

We drove into West Linn on Wednesday afternoon as Dave had a couple appointments up on "Pill Hill" (VA and OHSU) Thursday morning. He had broken one of his hearing aids and so I had made an appointment to get it repaired. It takes about three weeks to get into see an audiologist at the VA. Our appointment was for 9:30 a.m. and I think everyone else had an appointment for the same time! We made a couple loops around the only parking facility that the VA Hospital has (along with a hundred other cars circling around in a endless line looking for a spot to park) and finally ended up parking in a lot for "oversized" vehicles and hoping not to get towed away! We found the Audiology Dept. and he got his hearing aid fixed and we were out of there in an hour. I had made our next appointment for 11:30 at OHSU which is practically next door for his blood draw so we were plenty early for that appointment. In fact, we got in and out of there by 12 noon! Luckily his blood counts were good and he didn't need a transfusion. We made one more stop before we headed back down to the coast. Dave wanted to pick up some tide books from the Columbia River Pilot office as last time we were there, the books had been misprinted and they were still at the printers and not available. That office is way out in North Portland, so it isn't on the way to anywhere. Luckily, this time when we stopped by, the tide books were ready and Dave came home with a hand full to pass out to all his boating friends.

Our weather has been pretty stormy here, but I am not complaining as it is worse in other parts of the nation. They are expecting another front to come in today with high winds and 30 foot waves on the beaches. That would be fun to see! Between storms this week, I managed to help take down the city's Christmas lights. Although it was windy and raining lightly, it wasn't too cold out. We got all the lights and decorations down and put away in an orderly fashion for next season.

”Tom,

My two feral cats (Tom and Jerry) missed me while I was away. Since I get Leanna to feed them and she was back in Michigan visiting her sons and family, I had another neighbor lady feed them for me. They weren't used to her and the Mama cat was present most of the time eating their food. The Mama cat is the one that "dropped" them off at my place when they were kittens and she comes around and bullies them out of their food. When I am home, I make sure she stays away so Tom and Jerry get something to eat. I also got an old wicker basket that Lara didn't want any more and made them a little bed to sleep in by the door. They were all snuggled in the bed the other night, so I know they are enjoying that.

Next week Dave is scheduled for his fifth Chemo treatment and will probably be reporting into the hospital on Thursday, so I don't know if I will get my journal posted next Friday or not.
