IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

We had such a nice weekend for Easter, getting together with the family and especially enjoying the sunny weather. The temperature was up near 80 in the valley for much of the Easter weekend.

We left on Friday to spend the weekend because Dave had a broadcast and I wanted to go along so that I could take my granddaughter Jadyn out shopping and to Red Robin to celebrate her tenth birthday. I have made it a ritual to take each of my granddaughters out shopping for their birthdays and then top it off by going to Red Robin for dinner. They really look forward to it and so do I.

Since I had dropped Dave off at the arena to get ready for the game Friday night, I had to go pick him up after the game. However, since Leslie and her family had tickets to the game and were going to be there, I left early so I could visit with them. They had an extra seat where they were sitting so I sat with them for the remainder of the game. I usually have to squeeze up in the broadcast booth where Dave is working in order to see the game. I do have a press pass for all the home games but that doesn't include a seat.

While Lara was helping her girls dye Easter eggs on Saturday, Dave and I spent the day doing some "in town" shopping. First of all, I needed to get a new battery for my cell phone. The old thing would not keep a charge for even a day and I don't use my cell that much for it to go dead on me that fast. So it was off to Verizon to do that. We got to the store and the clerk told us that he didn't think the problem was entirely with the battery and since the phone was really ancient - maybe I should think about an upgrade. Well, I wasn't expecting that and I certainly wasn't ready for one of those "smart" phones. I refuse to use something that is going to be smarter than me. So I ended up with one that isn't quite a smart phone. I call it my "semi-smart" phone. It's nice, but I am still trying to get use to the touch panel.

We also did some shopping for Dave. He absolutely hates to go shopping but he really needed to get a few things for our upcoming trip to Washington, D.C. I don't like to buy him anything without him trying it on first as I usually have to take it back. So with a little prodding, I got him to go with me. He came home with a couple of pairs of shorts and a matching t-shirt. It's a start anyway.

We were invited down to Leslie's to spend the night Saturday, so we left for Silverton in the afternoon. We brought Stanley with us as they have a fenced in back yard for him to roam around in plus two Labs to occupy his time. We went out for pizza that evening and then I prepared a macaroni salad and chocolate pie for our feast on Sunday. Leslie made apple and cherry pies too.

On Easter we had quite a bunch show up for dinner. Besides us, there were Lara and her family and Jay's brother and sister-in-law's family. We had quite a feast too. Jason barbecued chicken and leg of lamb and we also had a ham. It was great. Before everyone arrived, Ashtin was out on the riding lawnmower finishing up the final cleanup on the "back 40". She gets around that acreage pretty good for a 13-year old. We headed back to the coast later that evening.

On Monday, Dave came down with Acute Bronchitis and spent most of the week in bed. I called the doctor and got a prescription for some cough medicine as he was really hacking away. Stanley the Basset Hound wasn't feeling too great either. He had helped himself to all kinds of snacks over the weekend and had a bit of a stomach ache. He didn't move for a couple of days either.

I am been doing my usual things. It was back to water aerobics on Monday and then, since the weather was sunny, I spent a lot of time working in the yard. I also worked down at Waterfront Park for a while on Wednesday, trying to get ahead of the weeds. On Thursday afternoon I filled in at the extension office for the Master Gardeners - answering questions about plant problems. I am scheduled for two more office sessions this summer to complete my requirements.

That about wraps things up for my week.
