IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Not much happening this week in our neck of the woods. We had some pretty heavy downpours but between showers, I managed to get outside and rake up the leaves that had fallen from the storms that we have been having. I get cabin fever if I stay indoors for too long and if I see a glimpse of sun, I am outside.

The week was busy with the usual, water aerobics in the mornings (that always gets my day going) and watching it rain. I did finish a good book I was reading that was the first of the trilogy "The Fall of Giants" by Ken Follett. It was about the history of the different European empires and their families and the sacrifices they made before and after World War I. I would highly recommend it but it does get a little tedious when he describes some of the battle scenes.

I am still taking care of the two feral kittens that "adopted" us. They are really afraid of everyone and won't let us near them. I am hoping to trap them next week so I can get them to the local Vet to be neutered and checked out. The United Paws furnished me with a live trap and they will pay for all the medical expenses. So wish me luck with that project!

The city finally got our street repaired this week. It was getting so bad that we almost needed four-wheel drive to get up the hill! The rainwater had made deep gullies down each side and laterally across the bottom and it needed repairing really bad. The guys showed up on Wednesday morning and scraped the road level and then pounded six big truck loads of gravel into it. They widened it while they were at it too; allowing the water to flow into the drainage like it was supposed to. The street is the only way in and out of our neighborhood and the job took all day, but they got it done without too much inconvenience to anyone.

I finished up with the last Wheeler Park & Rec work party for the year on Wednesday. We had a couple of things to tidy up and we will decorate the parks in December for the holidays. I thought I was going to have to cancel our party as about 30 minutes before it was scheduled, we had a tremendous downpour but by the time to go to work, the clouds parted and we had a warm sunshine. Everyone was wondering if I planned it that way!!

Dave has been busy in his shop all this week. He finally got tired of tripping over stuff on the floor and has been busy cleaning the place up. He installed some drawers in some work benches and also made some storage for a lot of the power tools that had been sitting on the floor. He says it looks like he now has twice the work space but it still looks cluttered to me. At least he's working at it.

We are now in Portland for a few days. Dave is working three Blazer broadcasts over five days and so it just makes sense to stay in town between games. It also gives us a long-overdue chance to see the grandkids and visit with the family.

Monday is Veteran's Day (actually it is Sunday, but the holiday is Monday) so if you have a veteran in your life, please join me in giving them a big hug for helping to keep us safe.
