IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

On our way home from town last Sunday we stopped by Silverton High School to watch our oldest granddaughter, Ashtin play basketball. She had two games going and her team won the first game and lost the second. In the first game, her team was behind but Ashtin turned it around with a 3-pointer. It was a great game. However, in the second game, they lost by quite a few so she wasn't so happy after that. Oh well, win a few, lose a few! Of course, we don't have any pictures of any of her games!

Boy, do I have Spring fever! The weather for the past few days has been very nice with temperatures in the high 60's. The Daffodils that I planted last fall are peeking out of the ground and other plant life is starting to wake up from their long winter naps. I sure hope they don't get fooled by Mother Nature by waking too early. I even got outside and dug in the dirt for a little bit. I had a few weeds - mostly wild water cress, which if left unattended can go to seed and multiply like crazy. Since the ground is a little damp yet, the weeds were easy to pull but there isn't much else you can do. But it was nice to be able to just get outdoors for a change. I also got my front windows washed so that makes it feel a little brighter inside.

I spent all day Tuesday attending the Master Gardener's class in Tillamook. This week we learned about soil and fertilizers. We each brought a sample of our soil and had it tested for the pH level and the composition of clay, sand and loom. Mine was pretty good because I have been amending the soil in my raised beds for awhile so that makes me feel better. It was another intense class that lasted most of the day.

Dave had an appointment on Tuesday with the cardiologist. His blood pressure is a little above normal so we have to monitor it each day until his next appointment. The doctor also wants him to lose weight and exercise. So he has been watching what he eats and has become close friends with the treadmill. It's a start. I of course, have been harping at him for a very long time to get out of the chair and get some sort of exercise but he had to hear it from the doctor, I guess. Anyway, he seems motivated and is doing a lot better and seems to be getting back to normal. He has two more tests with the cardiologist in the next two weeks, so they're still searching for answers to what happened. The good news is that it's been three weeks since his stroke and he's nearly back to normal.

We are both getting over our coughs. I am improving each day and Dave seems to be coughing less too. He had another doctor's appointment early this morning to see about his cough. He got a prescription for some medicine that has helped in the past, so we'll see if that does the trick this time. Doctor's appointments seem to be all we have been doing lately. It doesn't seem right since we both eat our fruits and veggies and take care of ourselves. I guess we have to face the inevitable fact that we are getting old.
