IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Lara

We got back on Sunday from Lara's "early" birthday party. Her youngest, Jordyn wasn't feeling very well, in fact, we had to take her to the emergency on Saturday night. She has an infection and all she wanted to do was to be held by her mama. I can't blame her. We called Lara on her real birthday (Wednesday) to wish her a happy day and she reported that everyone has strep throat! I think we will stay away from them for a while.

Lara

I have been staying home most of this week, but I haven't seen much of Dave. He is really busy, with meetings, play rehearsals and Blazer games, and I am lucky to see him at dinnertime. I finally scheduled some time with him on Wednesday so he could work on a few of the projects that he had started around the house. He managed to get the yard light replaced. This was a terrible job, as he had to climb up this high ladder to reach the top of the telephone pole where the light was. It had burned out last summer and he hasn't felt like climbing up the ladder to replace it. Actually the ladder was too short so he ingeniously used the little boat and trailer for height by placing the ladder inside the boat. It worked and it gave him just enough height to reach the top of the pole. I was worried that he would fall off and break something. Anyway, we have light again at night in the driveway!

Our nice weather finally came to a halt on Thursday and the rainy season has begun. But Thursday a.m., the park committee had our work party and we managed to plant about 100 spring bulbs in the park. We should see the fruit of our labor come next spring when everything will be blooming. We managed to get everything planted before the rain came down later that afternoon. I guess fall is officially here as even the temperatures are beginning to drop. I got all my fuchsia plants hung in the greenhouse to keep them around for a while, hoping that they will winter over.

Spider

We have been watching a couple of spiders with their webs in the front window. It is really fascinating to watch them gather up their "harvest" of assorted bugs that collect in their nets. I have also walked into a couple of spider webs in the yard and that sure feels icky because their webs are so thick and sticky this time of year.

I am planning on taking a couple of classes at the OSU extension center in Tillamook on Saturday. They are offering some interesting topics such as "Holiday Gifts from the Preserver's Kitchen" (learning how to make chutneys, sweet and savory vinegars, pickled vegetables, mustards, salsa and jellies); "A Cornucopia of Autumn's Bounty" (learning new ways to prepare and serve winter squash, root veggies and fall greens) and "Hydroponics at Home" (cultivation of plants without soil). Doesn't that sound like a great way to spend a stormy Saturday?

Dave's opening night for the Reader's Theater is Saturday night, so I will be attending their production of "Radio Daze". That should be fun too!
