IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Not a lot to talk about because I spent the week babysitting with the granddaughters. The week went by pretty smoothly. Jadyn attended kindergarten each day, and I picked her up from school in the afternoons. Jaysa was in preschool three of the five days I was on duty, so I only had Jordyn on a full-time basis. Believe me, she can wear a person out! We had a great bonding time though and after being away for a month, we got re-acquainted and I think she knows her grandma now.

Dave had a Blazer broadcast on Saturday night and so we headed for home on Sunday only to turn around again on Tuesday for another game. Meanwhile, the circulation pump at the pool where I have been taking water aerobics classes finally got repaired and so I attended my first water exercise class on Monday. I heard that the pool was closed the whole time that I was gone on vacation. I couldn't have scheduled my time away from the pool any better! It was great getting back into the water again and the instructor was kind to us the first day back knowing that we were all out of shape.

Meanwhile, Dave caught a virus and has been coughing and sneezing all week and keeping us both awake all night. He was sick in bed for a couple of days and I finally called and made a doctor's appointment so we could get some sleep at night. He got some medication and he's feeling better, but as it turned out, I managed to get the same bug and have spent the last couple of days trying to fight that off. Since the granddaughters have been sick, we have a feeling that is where we picked this bug up. They seem to get over their sickness a lot faster than we do!

It sure feels good to be back home. Between Arizona, Nevada, Utah and a week of babysitting, it's been a long time. A lot of yard work awaits me. While the weather was nice this week, I did get out and mow the lawn that was getting out of control. I had fertilized it before I had left on vacation and of course it went crazy. I also got the windows washed, as they were really dirty from all the rain we had had. The weeds are still waiting for me to pull and as soon as I get over this virus, that will be my next project.

Rainbow We had some rain the other morning and Dave caught this picture of a beautiful rainbow out in the front of our house. Even though the skies were dark, there was a reflection in the river! We are so lucky. We were talking the other day and mentioned that we hadn't seen the elk on the island yet this year. The grass is so lush and green that we halfway expected them to return. Well, wouldn't you know it, yesterday morning there they were, busy grazing on all the tender grasses and we counted about 35 head. Also, the birds are starting to come back. While I was away, I removed all the feeders and so those fickle birds decided to go elsewhere. Yesterday, I finally spotted some goldfinches, blackbirds, chickadees and sparrows at the feeders. So things are starting to feel normal again.

We have plans this weekend to take the small trailer into Silverton for Leslie and Jay to use so they can haul Ashtin's two pigs around. The pigs are her 4-H project and they're due for a weigh-in this next week, so Dave has been working to get it ready. That's an extra trailer, so we're donating it to the farm. The pigs will make better use of it than we will. I am anxious to see how much they have grown since February. I have some catching up to do because I haven't been down there to see any of the farm life.

Our calendar is full for the next month, and yet, we have to stay flexible because the Blazers are in the playoffs. We only know our schedule for a few days ahead of games, and if they win a series, then the whole thing starts over again, waiting for the league to schedule the games. We're not complaining, though. It's been six years since the team was in the post-season playoffs, and since we get paid by the game, all the extra work is appreciated!
