IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Last weekend while we were still in town, I got together with an old friend that I hadn't seen in years. Diane Cook and I worked together at Tektronix and then she moved on to Intel. I had tried to get in contact with her several times but was unable to reach her and she sort of slipped to the back of my mind. Well, out of the blue I received a note from her and I immediately gave her a call and suggested getting together for lunch. So on Saturday I picked her up at her home in Sherwood and we had a nice lunch and got caught up on a few years worth of news. I found out that she had had breast cancer and was given six months to live (that was three years ago) and I told her that I would have felt awful if I had read her obituary in the paper. Sometimes we get so busy with life that we fail to keep in touch and then we feel guilty if something happens to that someone.

After my lunch date, Lara and I grabbed Jordyn and headed to the outlet stores to find our baby a new pair of shoes. They want $50 for a pair at the Stride-Rite store and the mall had them for $25, plus if you buy a second pair it is half off! So we ended up with two pairs of shoes, some little brown Mary Janes and a cute pair of pink tennis shoes. You should have seen her trying to get around in them. She has just started to walk and has problems in bare feet, much less big, unfamiliar shoes! She didn't like them at all at first and was taking duck steps. I was really funny to watch!

Sunday, we headed down to Silverton so Dave could help Jason wire the animal shed. After a couple of trips to the hardware store (thank goodness they are open on Sundays) they managed to get some juice to the shed and now the animals will have a light. All they have to do is find some animals. I guess pigs are really scarce this year. We headed home by mid-afternoon by way of Highways 18 and 22.

The rest of this week we have been busy going to meetings. I attended our monthly emergency preparedness meeting on Monday and told them that I was going to discontinue being on the committee. I will continue to be the block captain for the neighborhood but I am so bogged down with meetings that I am beginning to get burned out. I also had a meeting on Tuesday with the Garden Club where I am the secretary and need to be present to take minutes. The garden club will be starting to get plants going for their annual sale and so that means lots of time helping out with that. So between those two things and the Park Committee, and reading to the 4th graders, I am beginning to feel overloaded. In between my meetings, Dave had City Council and ham radio emergency training.

We were invited for dinner at the Kahrs' on Tuesday night and had a wonderful visit with them over a steelhead dinner that she had prepared. They have been gone since November visiting family in the Bay Area so we hadn't seen them for quite awhile. They made their usual tour of the California wine country and so we got to taste a couple of nice rose' wines that they had purchased. Also, Des made his famous Grasshopper drinks (think Creme de Menthe milkshakes), so between the wine and liquor, we had a grand time!

Dave had to make another trip to town on Wednesday for a Blazer game and returned home on Thursday. I stayed here, but will go in with him this weekend as our youngest granddaughter, Jordyn will be turning one this Sunday and we are going to have a little celebration with the family.

It seems like it was only yesterday instead of five years ago that we lost our dear Lillian. I still miss her very much and being that her birthday is Saturday, we hope to stop by the cemetery for a short visit.

No pictures AGAIN! Sorry about that. I promise to remember to bring the camera with me next time we do something exciting.
