IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

It seemed like I spent most of the week in the car driving back and forth to Portland.

We left home on Monday as Dave had a Blazer game to engineer and I rode along so I could get some shopping done. I also had an appointment to get my nails done. My granddaughter Jordyn will be turning one year old on the 1st of February and I wanted to get her something for her birthday. So I dropped Dave off at the Rose Garden and I arrived at my nail appointment right on time. Then it took her almost two hours to do my nails! After that, I rushed over to the mall and met Lara as she was getting Jordyn's year old picture taken and I wanted to do some shopping for her birthday. We went into Gymboree as I had one of these coupons where if you buy $50 worth of clothes and you get $25 off. After we had selected a few outfits and was getting them checked out, I was told that my coupon was only good for on-line merchandise since I had ordered the last bunch of clothes on line. So we put everything back and I went home and ordered the stuff on line! Give me a break.

The next morning, we drove back home because Dave had a city council meeting to attend that evening. They were swearing in the newly elected council members and a new mayor. A few of the former council members wanted to give the outgoing mayor and council members a certificate to show our appreciation for their efforts and we were going to serve cake and coffee. Well, the new mayor just about had a fit when he found out what we were going to do because he doesn't like the old mayor. So we had to cancel our plans. Politics as usual always gets in the way. They sure do suck sometimes!

Wednesday, it was back to Portland again. Dave working the Blazer game and me wanting to attend the game because they were playing the Cleveland Cavaliers. I really don't care much for that team or their big superstar LeBron James, but I wanted to see the Cleveland announcer with whom I had worked for most of my career. Joe Tait is his name and he is such a great guy. Joe is about as old as Bill Schonely and is quite the legend in Cleveland. Anyway, I got to sit with Joe and listen to his broadcast. He only makes it to Portland once a year and he has had some health issues so I wanted to be sure and see him again and to tell him in person that I am now retired.

It was back home again on Thursday and then we turned around and went back to Portland on Friday. Dave has been invited to a dinner at the University Club in Portland tonight where they will be serving all kinds of expensive single-malt scotch and an authentic five course Scottish meal including haggis, sweet breads and cullen skink. I don't know if I would want to eat any of that. I have tasted Haggis when I went to Scotland and found it tasted strange. Dave had to look up most of the menu items on the computer and I don't think he really wanted to know what they were! Maybe after a few samplings of the scotch, he won't care!

There is another Blazer game on Saturday night and then Sunday we will be traveling to Silverton to Leslie and Jay's to help them wire the animal shed that they built a couple of months ago.

I got a chance to hug my three youngest granddaughters this week before they left for school. Little Jordyn is taking about 7 steps and can get from a sitting position to a standing position without any help. She was so cute the other day watching Sesame Street and standing all by her self dancing and laughing, not realizing that she wasn't hanging on to anything. Just in the week since I last saw her she has changed.

I must mention the weather. It has been beautiful all week. I didn't get much done out in the yard because I wasn't home enough, but it has been so uplifting just to see the sun shining. I did buy a bunch of Primroses and planted them in the pots to give a little color around here.

Sorry I don’t have any pictures again this week. We keep forgetting to take the camera with us!
