IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Somebody turn off the hoses! For the past week, we have had storm after storm with pouring rain and wind gusts reaching more than 40 mph! All the snow we had in the higher elevations over the past couple of weeks melted and there was a lot of flooding. It has been a sight watching all the debris coming down the river and heading out to sea. Thursday, Dave was busy trying to clear some of the debris that has been piling up at the city dock. Logs of all sizes come down the river and pile up against the upstream side of the dock. Too many of those and it will break the dock, so a bunch of volunteers have been working to try to keep it cleared. It is a job they can't seem to get ahead of, stuff comes roaring down the river faster than they can clear it. He's also been doing the same thing down at Kahrs' dock where we keep the steamboat in the summer. They're still out of town and there's no one else to take care of it. We are so ready for some sunshine! Just a hint of blue sky would be nice too.

Dave had to drive into town on Wednesday for a game. I opted to stay at home and wait out the storm. I think Wednesday night was the worst night of the storm and I didn't waste any time dragging out the oil lamps and candles because I was sure that we would lose our electricity. Luckily, the electricity stayed on but the wind howled most of the night and the driving rain kept me awake. By morning most of the rain had stopped. I wonder where all the little birds go when there is such a fierce storm. You would think that they would all blow away in the wind but in the morning they are all waiting outside my deck for their food.

I came down with a terrible cold last weekend and have been suffering with a stuffed up head and sinus problems. My head feels like a pumpkin and when I make the slightest movement the pressure about kills me. The usual aspirin doesn't touch the pain and I finally got some sinus headache pills that seem to be working. I guess this is the season and it is going around because a lot of friends seem to feel the same way.

Refrigerator & Cooktop Ray’ My new refrigerator and stovetop finally arrived last Friday. But then to our surprise, we found the refrigerator was too big for the space. This is after we had measured and re-measured to make sure it would fit! What we had measured was the inside of the cabinet and forgot about the 1/4" trim along the front. The 1/4" is about what we needed to make it fit so we had our friend Ray bring his carpenter tools and expertise over to cut off the trim. It now fits good and snug and I don't have to worry about anything falling between the cabinets! The deliverymen had to bring the refrigerator through the patio doors and lift it over the kitchen table, which is not a job for any weakling, believe me! The stovetop is great! It is a ceramic top with the burners built into the surface. It is so easy to keep clean and I feel like I am finally in the 21st century with this appliance. I also have four burners instead of the two I used to have, so when I have to fix a big meal, I will at least be able to cook everything at once. I will miss the griddle that was part of my old stove, but I plan on getting a separate griddle to use when I make pancakes.

Nothing else has been happening around here and I hope you had a better week than me.
