IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Happy New Year to all of you and I hope that 2009 is better than 2008!!

Well another year has flown by. Where did the time go? We celebrated on New Year's Eve in our usual manner, I was in bed by 10:30 and I think Dave came in before midnight. Aren't we a bunch of party animals?

Brenda & the boys For the past couple of days, we have had family visiting. My nephew's wife, Brenda, two of her sons, Hunter and Riley and my other nephew, Luke made a quick trip to Oregon from Colorado. Luke had just moved in with his brother's family in Colorado and needed to get some things out of storage that he had in Oregon. He had just moved from Wyoming and had ended a relationship with a gal there and needed to sort out some of his stuff from hers. It's a looong story. They got everything out of the storage place and had to unload the U-Haul in a driving rainstorm all day long on Thursday. They have to be back in Colorado on Monday and they're really not looking forward to another marathon drive!

We have been home all week after being in West Linn for five days. The roads over the coast range were pretty clear so the trip home went smoother than the trip into town. It sure felt good to be back home. The weather has been stormy all week but at least it isn't snowing or freezing rain. We had high winds with gusts in the 40's and we have flooding to worry about now. It has been interesting watching all the debris coming down the river headed for the sea.

Both Dave and I had doctor's appointments on Monday. It was a last minute thing. We called that morning and were both able to get in late in the afternoon. Dave's knees have been really giving him a bad time and we wanted to find out what was going on with that and I had a wart that I wanted the doctor to remove. The doctor told Dave he had arthritis and he removed my wart by freezing it off. So much for that. The doctor recommended Aleve to ease the discomfort in Dave's knees.

Dave had to run back into town on Tuesday for a Blazer game and he spent the night in West Linn and came back home Wednesday. He left again today for another game tonight. He was supposed to go to Seattle for a board meeting on Saturday, but the weather is just too bad, and there's a lot for him to do here if there's an emergency.

They are finally going to deliver my new stovetop and refrigerator today. After we removed the old cooktop it looked like Grandma had had a fire on the back burner. The countertop under the rim of the stove and the part of the structure under the stove was black from being burned. We cleaned it up the best we could and hopefully it won't show with my new stovetop. I am in the process of emptying out the freezer and refrigerator, hauling all of the stuff downstairs to the extra refrigerator that we have. What a job! Now I just hope they show up today. We have high winds and rising water from all of last week's snow melting all at once, so I guess there's a chance they won't be able to make it down here. That would be ironic, because it was all the snow that delayed the delivery for two weeks in the first place. They'd better make it, because - as I said - we have removed the old cooktop. That could be a long time between hot meals!

Our youngest granddaughter, Jordyn turned 11 months on the 1st and has taken about five steps on her own. Her Mom just happened to have the camera handy and got it all on video. She gets so excited about her accomplishment that she loses her balance and falls down. I am sure she will be walking real soon.

Again, I hope everyone has a happy and healthy new year!
