IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

After our fill of turkey on Thanksgiving and Dave engineering a Blazer game last Friday, we headed back home for the week. I asked for the turkey carcass and a few of the leftovers which I brought home and made some good ol' turkey soup with. We have been eating on that for most of the week.

We had some fairly decent weather over the weekend and I managed to get outside and rake up some more leaves but then another storm came in and blew some more leaves down and I couldn't even tell I did anything! Oh well, it was great to be out of doors and get some exercise just the same.

The rest of the week has been filled with various meetings and a trip into Hillsboro for Dave to get his hearing tested. He had had an audio accident while he was testing his equipment at the Blazer game and wanted to make sure he wasn't completely deaf in his right ear. What had happened was the crew was testing out the horn in the arena before the game and they warn everyone when they are going to blow it. Well, Dave wasn't close enough to get the warning and he opened an effects microphone right next to where the horn is mounted on the backboard just as they set the thing off and it about deafened him. Fortunately, his hearing test showed no more hearing loss than he had before the accident.

HDTV’ While we were in town, we spent the kid's inheritance. We decided we would spend some of our money now instead of losing it in the stock market. We have wanted to replace our refrigerator and stovetop for some time now and so we bit the bullet and bought a new side-by-side refrigerator and Jenn-Aire cooktop. They won't be delivered until December 17th, so I still have a couple of weeks to wait! We also bought a new 52" HDTV flat screen. That, we didn't wait for. We brought it home with us. It's nice, but there's no hi-def yet. That will come when the cable company hooks us up next week. Merry Christmas to us!

That darn raccoon outsmarted us again! Dave came home with a small animal trap that we set up with an enticing bowl of cat food to lure him into the trap. But the next morning, to our surprise, the trap had been sprung and the bowl of food was gone! How the raccoon managed to escape has us puzzled and I have decided that he is smarter than we think he is! We will keep trying, though. We have a LOT of cat food!

Dave & the candy cane Our little town is getting all decorated for Christmas, thanks to the help of Dave and another councilman who spent a few hours this week helping the phone company put up pole decorations. I will be helping on Saturday by placing Christmas lights on an evergreen tree in the Waterfront Park. Hopefully this will give us some incentive to put up our own lights on the house and get ready for the season.

The holiday season is here and there is so much to do. We are planning on having our kids down the weekend before Christmas so that means losing about a week of preparation. They all have things they need to be doing on Christmas day, so it works out better just setting a weekend early when we can celebrate. I have been busy getting my Christmas letter written and some gifts purchased. I'm sure the gift purchasing will continue, but all I have to do is stamp the envelopes and the letter will be going out in the mail.
