IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Happy 4th of July!!

collage" Last week while I was leaving the pool from my water aerobics class, I picked up a brochure about a Science Camp being offered this week for kids down here. I immediately thought of Leslie's two girls and called her on the phone to see if they would like to come down. So she packed up her two and we met them half way so they could spend the week with us going to the camp. At first, the camp was only offered to 2nd thru 6th graders and since Paige is only going to be in the 1st grade this fall, I was going to have to sweet talk my way into getting her in the class. At first they hesitated, but since there weren't very many kids registered, they decided to let Paige join. She was so excited! The camp has really been fun for the girls. They are gone from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (lunch is included) on field trips, hiking and swimming and doing crafts. The only part that they haven't enjoyed while they have been visiting was about the middle of the week, they became terribly homesick. Also, Ashtin, the eight year old is lactose intolerant and has been waking up during the nights with a stomachache. They are sweet girls and they really crack us up with some of their antics.

I took the girls over to Cart'm to the recycle center to dump off the recycle stuff (we don't have curbside pick-up down here) and they enjoyed putting the various plastics and tin cans in their proper places. We also checked out their store and came home with a Barbie doll with rather wild hair and an American Idol headset and microphone. I think I paid $3.00 for everything and they have enjoyed playing with them. Ashtin even pretended to interview me with her new microphone! We also spent time playing Memory card game and Uncle Wiggly. They like playing with us because they can win every time. It is not that we can't remember anything when we play the memory game it is just that we can't retrieve it from our brains! I don't know what it is about Uncle Wiggly, but Ashtin can win every time when she plays with me.

collage Lara and Greg and their girls came down on Tuesday night for the week. Boy that baby is sure growing. She is starting to roll over now and loves to grab your hair and pull! Jadyn has been under the weather with an ear infection. Wednesday was Greg's and my birthdays and we always celebrate together. We went out for pizza and then came home for birthday cake. It was a fun evening but I went to bed with a full stomach and didn't sleep too well.

We also got the steamboat out of the boat barn and got it cleaned and polished up for the Manzanita 4th of July parade. We always trailer the boat in the parade and Dave toots the steam whistle while everyone rides inside and throws candy to the crowds watching. Afterward, we will hopefully put the boat in the water for a ride, but that depends on the weather conditions. We have invited our friends Stan and Terrie to come along and stay for a barbecue afterwards. There are the fireworks to watch from the deck too. Happy Fourth of July to Everyone!!
