IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Jan & Jordyn We got back from Portland last Saturday and spent a couple of days at home before we headed back again on Tuesday for another Blazer game. This game was against the Washington Wizards and it was a little stressful. I am suppose to mix the sound, but the engineer back at the studio kept telling me that the levels were too hot and to turn the mics down. So I did and their voices hardly registered on the meter! After that, the engineer told me to turn them up! It was like, "make up your mind, will ya"? Obviously, he was having problems at his end and was trying to get me to solve them for him. Boy, some games are just like that and you are so glad when it is all over. My blood pressure really rises during these times - it's a good thing he's 3000 miles from me! Well, the season will be over the middle of April, as the team will not be going into the playoffs and I can hardly wait.

Hail on the Deck While we were driving back home on Wednesday, the weatherman had predicted snow and we hit some up on the summit. Our new Jeep Liberty did just fine on the road. I can't remember when we have had so much snow and freezing temperatures this late in the year. It sure doesn't feel like spring around here. The other day, it had been raining off and on and we saw some lightning followed by thunder. Then we had this terrific hailstorm with hail the size of peas! All this piled up on the deck in less than a minute.

Ashtin with Aunt Lara It seems like I have been busy all week attending some sort of meeting. I had an emergency committee meeting on Thursday to discuss the town workshop that we are going to hold on Saturday morning. I have missed a few of these meetings as they always seem to schedule them when I am out of down. I almost resigned, as I felt guilty about not attending, but they encouraged me to stay on. I guess it's true that small towns will take any warm body, even if she can't show up for half the meetings! We formed this emergency committee following our big hurricane last December, so that we can be more prepared when the next storm arrives. We decided that if something big happens again, we would need to rely on ourselves instead of government agencies for help, a sort of a neighborhood watch group.

Jaysa I also took in a park committee meeting today to discuss the grant we are applying for to redo the upper park in town. Normally we only meet once a month, but the grant we are working on needs to be submitted by April 4th and that is just around the corner. Who says retirement is easy, it feels like work again!

I also spent some time helping with the transplanting of some fuchsia and geranium plants that the garden club is getting ready for our big plant sale in May. My poor plants that I have started at home are not showing any signs of growing and I doubt if they will be ready for the sale. The poor things, they just aren't getting enough sunlight, as it has been too cold.

Jadyn Since we haven't been able to upload pictures for the last two journal entries, I am getting caught up and including lots of pictures this week. They are mostly of the grandkids. We began the Easter celebration on Saturday when Greg and Lara took the girls Easter egg hunting. They went to the local park and found eggs that either had candy or a prize in them. Jaysa got an egg with a prize and she came home with this giant chocolate bunny. We had an Easter brunch with everyone on Saturday and Leslie and Jason brought Ashtin and Paige up to Lara's to join in the festivities. All four girls had fun finding the Easter eggs that were hidden around the house. Jadyn is showing off her missing tooth. She was all excited because the tooth fairy left her some money for it. In a couple of weeks she will be turning five and will be starting kindergarten this fall. It was nice to get everyone together again, and after the Easter brunch, we left for home.

We'll be leaving here tomorrow to go to Portland for another game...only six more this season!
