IT'S FRIDAY (THANK GOD), MY FAVORITE DAY!!

It's been one of those weeks where there has been a lot of stress and bad karma coming my way.

Lara’s shower We drove back into Portland last Friday to engineer a Blazer game and then stayed the weekend because we were having a baby shower for Lara.

Let me start with the stress. I had a big surprise when I opened up my Mom's assisted living bill for the month. Not only did they charge me for some costs that they can't explain, plus I hadn't budgeted for any new costs. There was really no explanation for this, other that they said there was a "clerical error" on a previous statement. So they just added it to this one with nothing said! I spent a lot of time leaving phone calls trying to get an explanation. Finally, since they automatically withdraw the funds from her checking account, I decided to put a stop payment on her account so they couldn't take out the full amount. I ended up writing them a cashier's check for what I considered fair and figured I would settle with them later. Of course, they weren't too excited about that arrangement.

To continue with the bad karma, I had called on Thursday to make an appointment to get my nails done while I was in town on Saturday at 10:30. After that, I was planning on meeting up with my sister so we could go shopping for a baby shower gift. When I got to the shop, they didn't have me written in and of course they were really busy, so I had to come back at 12:30. This really threw my schedule off so I had to rearrange to meet my sister earlier.

Jordyn Jordyn On Sunday, Lara gave Jordyn a bath and believe me she doesn't care for that at all and was glad when she was snuggled up in a towel to dry. Later that afternoon we had a nice baby shower for the baby and she received a lot of cute things. Of course, Jordyn was passed around so that everyone could hold her and she didn't seem to mind. After the shower, Dave and I packed up and headed for home. Since we had to be back on Tuesday, we decided two days at home is better than none.

On Tuesday, we headed back into town. We had another Blazer game that night and on Wednesday I had to take my Mom for her doctor's appointment that morning. Her appointment was at 10:00 a.m. and after waiting for almost an hour, the doctor finally saw her. I sure let the doctor know that I didn't appreciate my Mom having to wait that long.

On Tuesday, Dave came down with a sore throat and couldn't get his nose to stop running. Then he picked up a hacking cough and every joint in his body hurts. He has been in bed for two days and really feels miserable. He thinks he picked it up from one of his students in the SMART class at school on Monday. Reading with those kids has its rewards, but there's definitely a down side too! It is bad timing too, as this weekend we are leaving for Seattle for the annual NWSS dinner and then Monday we are driving down to Ashland to see a few plays at the Shakespeare Festival.

Maybe next week will be better.
