IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Kahrs' Thanksgiving We made it through the Thanksgiving holiday in pretty good shape. Not only did we have a delicious meal with all our family on Thursday, and then we decided to do it again on Saturday with our dear friends, Donna and Des Kahrs and their family. She fixed a fine meal with soup and everything. She actually spent the better part of two days preparing the dinner, and it showed! That's Donna closest to the camera, and Des on the opposite end of the table. Their son Devin is on the left. Now that I am completely stuffed with turkey, it's on to the next holiday. There is so much to do and I haven't even begun. Both of my girls have their Christmas letters all ready to go and we are still figuring out what we are going to write about! I write the equivalent of a weekly "holiday letter" each Friday on this page, so it's hard to try to come up with some new material for the annual "journal".

Wreath Our garden club met on Tuesday at the home of one of our members. We had a wreath-making demo and everyone made Christmas wreaths and centerpieces. I had gone out on Sunday and cut a bunch of cedar from our hedge and some of the members had done the same with other greens. We had quite a variety to use and it was a lot of fun and I made this really nice wreath centerpiece for my table.

We had a couple of Blazer games this week, actually I worked only one of the games and Dave had someone else do the Indiana game for me. I refuse to work for the announcer of that team as he is very condescending to females and I don't need the abuse. I told Dave several years ago that I didn't care how much money we made on the game, I wasn't working another game with that chauvinist! So while Dave was working on Thursday, I was out running a few errands and doing a little Christmas shopping too. My Mom's glasses were ready to be picked up, so I had to haul her over to get them adjusted and that took some time. I also stopped by and visited with my older sister who is finally home after recuperating in a rehab center for the past six weeks. She had to have her replacement knee removed because of a staff infection and she finally was able to get rid of the infection with an IV antibiotic. Now she is home and will go in to get her artificial knee replaced around the middle of December and then she will be recuperating from that for another couple of weeks. I also had to fight the traffic to make it over to Washington Square to take a pair of earrings in to be cleaned for my sister-in-law. While I was at WS, I managed to buy a couple of outfits for two of my granddaughters for Christmas. Then it was back to West Linn and Lara followed me over to the Rose Garden with her car so I could drop our car off for Dave after the game. That's a hundred miles of driving in the city and I did all of this while there was snow mixed with rain coming down.

We also bought a computer this week. It's an HP Pavilion 17" Widescreen Entertainment Laptop. Devin Kahrs just bought one similar to this, and was showing it to us at our dinner. Our old laptop has been dying for the past year and there is so much we want to do that we just can't when trying to use it. We take it with us when we're going to be gone for any length of time, but it's very frustrating to try to use it when it crashes more than it works! In fact, just last week we tried to include some pictures in the journal and the computer wouldn't do it. Since we are on the road so much, we (well, Dave) decided to spring for the new computer. Hopefully, with this new machine, we'll be able to post the same kind of journal - complete with photos - even when we're away from home. It's probably going to take us a couple of weeks to get it set up and figure out all the bells and whistles. We'll see how it works the first Friday that I have to post the journal somewhere other than here at home.

If the weather holds for this weekend, we plan on getting our Christmas lights up on the house. The weather has been off again and on again with rain and wind and we even had some rain mixed with snow Wednesday night while we were in town. We saw a little bit of snow along the side of the highway coming back to the coast over the mountains but it is suppose to be clear for the start of the weekend. We're supposed to be getting another hurricane on Sunday and Monday, so the window of opportunity is pretty tight!
