IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Last weekend was highlighted by Dave's acting debut. He was quite a hit in the play "Mr. Barry's Etchings" where he played a magazine reporter who was really an undercover T-Man on the trail of a counterfeiter. The room where they hold the plays seats about 60 people. Saturday night they had around 50 attend and Sunday's matinee was around 35 people. The acting company is doing it again this Saturday, but Dave isn't able to participate because of the basketball game. An understudy is taking his role for that performance. He is already looking forward to another play that they will be doing this next spring. There will be a cast party Sunday night - that ought to be a lot of fun!

Tuesday we had to have our blood tested for the statin we are taking for our cholesterol. Of course, we had to fast before the procedure, so after my water aerobics class, we headed into the doctor's office in Tillamook early for the blood draw. It was around 10:30 when that was completed and then we decided we had better get some coffee and breakfast in our stomachs and headed out to find a place to eat. The first couple of places that we chose were just coffee shops and didn't serve a full breakfast. We finally ended up at the Pancake House and Dave ordered his favorite, a cheese omelet and of course pancakes. The omelet was pretty pathetic and the pancakes were nothing to shout about. I ended up giving him half of the minced ham and scrambled eggs that I had ordered.

I also had a nail appointment and Dave needed to go out to the Department of Motor Vehicles to get a boat trailer license renewed while we were in town. Believe it or not, there wasn't a soul in the DMV office and he was in and out of there in no time and ended up waiting for me to get through with my appointment. In the past, we usually have to take a number and wait a while, but not this time. I guess it makes a difference what day of the month you go there. When he walked in, the guy behind the counter said, "Can I help you? Please?" He was actually glad to see someone come in the place! Can this really be DMV? After that, and after one more stop at Fred Meyer's for gas and groceries, we were on our way back home.

We made our reservations for our theater dates at Ashland in 2008 today. This is the first day we can buy tickets for next season, and Dave was up at 0-dark-thirty to get on the computer and get some primo tickets. He did that last year, and we were front row center for every performance. We also made a bunch of reservations in conjunction with the performances; hotel reservations on the way to and in Ashland, and two nights at Crater Lake Lodge after our September plays. We stopped at Crater Lake for an hour on our way home this last September, and decided we'd like to spend more time there, so we committed two days (and a chunk of money) at the lodge in 2008.

It has been a beautiful week to enjoy the fall weather. In fact it was so nice, I got outside and mowed the lawn (mainly to scoop up the fallen leaves) and the car got a much-needed wash job.

On Wednesday, we headed back into town for the home opener for the Blazer season. It was a half an hour later than usual getting started because of all the hoopla that they have to do on opening night. I had a problem with my broadcast, as we got some cross-talk from the TV production that was going on at the same time. So people listening in New Orleans were not only hearing their announcers, they were also hearing the Portland TV announcers. Very irritating! We had the same kind of problem last season with this same team when they came to town and I am sure that they think we are a bunch of incompetents. It took awhile for the engineers in the back room to find the problem and that made my blood pressure rise even more. I was glad when that broadcast was over even though it was an exciting game and the Blazers won. It was after midnight before we crawled into bed and I was exhausted. We have two more games this week, tonight and Saturday night and then we will head back home on Sunday.

Other than that, there's not a lot to talk about this week. We spent Thursday bonding with Jadyn and Jaysa here at Lara & Greg's. The girls are very entertaining, but it makes for a tiring day. Now I remember why parents of young kids are young themselves!
