IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Finally, some down time. After last week with all that was going on, I needed some time to relax.

Dave left early last Friday for a Blazer game in Redmond and didn't return until Saturday afternoon. That gave me some time to get the house cleaned and get my turkey in the oven for our dinner guests on Saturday night. I fixed a real turkey dinner with all the trimmings, including pumpkin pie. So guess what we have been eating all week - left over turkey!

Carving Pumpkin Jack O'Lantern I got my pumpkin carved for Halloween and had it all aglow for my dinner party on Saturday night. Everyone got a big kick out of it. We don't have a single trick or treater come to the house and I really miss all those little ghosts and goblins knocking at my door, so the best thing I can do to appease my Halloween spirit is to carve a pumpkin.

The rest of the week has been pretty ordinary. On Monday, we started the SMART Reading Program up at the grade school and I met the two students that I will be working with this year. The little boy who is a first grader was kind of quiet at first but after I read the first book to him, he started to open up and read the second book to me. The little girl that I have was outgoing, but she really needs help with her reading. It will be exciting to see these two develop by the end of this school year and how much they will have improved.

We finally got one of our front windows replaced. Late spring, one of the front windows was starting to cloud up and so we ordered a replacement. The window has to be made special because of the size and so that took awhile. It finally arrived, but as they were unloading the window, it got broken. So they reordered and in July it was installed. But, after it was in place, Dave noticed that it wasn't tinted like the rest of the windows, so they had to reorder it again! It finally arrived and is now in its place. I made the contractor put it in temporarily while I hurriedly painted the boards that he was going to use to fasten the window in place. When the boards were dried, he came back and put the boards in place and the window is now installed and I don't have to try to paint around the window.

Dave The Riverbend Players will be putting on their play this Saturday and Sunday and Dave is all set for his part. They have been practicing twice a week for the past six weeks so I think they should be ready for their performance. He plays an FBI agent/reporter/boyfriend in his part. He looks really handsome all dressed up in a suit for his costume. I plan on going to the Sunday matinee to see him perform.

It has been kind of nice being home all week and the weather has been getting cooler and it is still pretty dark in the mornings when I have to get up to go to my water aerobics class. We have had some beautiful sunsets with pink and violet hues in the sky. I might as well enjoy it while it lasts, because the rainy season will be here before you know it. Which also reminds me; don't forget that we go back to standard time on Sunday.
