IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

It certainly feels like fall is in the air with these cooler mornings and warm afternoons. It makes me think of all the projects that I have left to do before the weather really starts to turn cold.

Speaking of projects, we needed to get our gutters cleaned and it is a rather precarious climb because we are on a hill. So we decided to check out the cost of getting them cleaned by a professional. Boy, do they want a lot of money! We decided that the other alternative would be to buy some ladder levelers and do the job ourselves. They weren't cheap, but they didn't cost anywhere near what the pros wanted for just one cleaning. So Dave held the ladder while I climbed up and scooped out all the debris. We managed to get one side of the house done, and will tackle the other side this weekend. In the past, we have had our daughter climb up there and with the help of her husband, they managed to get the job done. But they're so busy, they haven't had a chance to do it lately, so now we're champion gutter cleaners too!

Judy, Jan, Jeanne My two sisters were down for most of this week and I had a nice time with them. My younger sister lives in Phoenix and she flew up to see my Mom and to spend some time with us. Since my older sister can't drive for too long of a distance because she has a bad knee, they drove down together for a few days. The weather was cooperative and it only rained once.

On Labor Day, we took a drive to the Three Capes area along the coast. This is a scenic route south of Tillamook that takes you to Cape Mears, Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda. Down by Cape Kiwanda, we stopped in Pacific City and had lunch at the Pelican Pub. This is a nice place to eat located right on the beach with an ocean view.

I took my youngest sister, Jeanne up town to Wheeler on one of the days she was here and showed her the Waterfront Park. Since she is interested in antiques we browsed through one of the antique stores in town. We spent the rest of the time just relaxing and catching up on family life. It was nice to get together and before I knew it, they had to leave for home. My sister will spend the rest of the week in the Portland area visiting my Mom and a friend of hers before she flies back to Phoenix on Saturday.

Dave had a birthday on Monday, so now he can't brag that he is "younger" than me. My birthday being in July, I turn a year older than him. He had gotten most of his presents before hand so it was kind of anticlimactic. I had gotten him a scroll saw and he also got a new cell phone with GPS tracking and Internet access on it.

It's supposed to be warm weather this weekend, I'll probably kill myself working outdoors, but isn't that what the sunny days are for?
