IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

It's all about the grandgirls this week!

AJ soccer We made a trip into town last weekend, as Dave had to announce the drag races on Friday and Saturday nights. He was home early Friday night as it started to rain and the crowd was pretty sparse which is easy money for him because they pay him whether he works all night or not. However, on Saturday night he didn't get home until after midnight.

We went down to Salem on Saturday morning to watch Ashtin play soccer. She has gotten a lot more confident in her skills from last year and really enjoys playing. Ashtin had to play goalie part of the time and she made this killer of a slide trying to save the ball from going into the net. Picture a World Cup goalie diving sideways to deflect the ball and you have an idea of what she was doing. Of course, at the time, the family photographer was standing there watching her with the camera hanging uselessly from his neck! The team only plays four players, a goalie and three other players, so there isn't a lot of defense at this level. We got a kick out of watching the expressions on their faces when they score a goal.

We didn't have a chance to go see Leslie and Jason's new place in Silverton. The people they're buying it from are still in it and were having a party that day. We weren't invited. Leslie says they had better have been having a "put on a new roof" party, since that has to be done before they move in!

Mickey 2-wheelin AJ 1-handin Cousins Sunday we returned to Salem as we were invited down to Leslie and Jason's for a family dinner. Lara and Greg were invited too and so everyone in the family was there. I love it when we can all get together. Those times are so few and far between because of everyone's schedule. Anyway, Ashtin and Paige had to show us how they could ride their bicycles. Paige, who is four, doesn't use training wheels anymore and managed to only fall down a few times, but bless her heart, she just gathered herself up and tried again. She is one tough cookie. I am also amazed how quickly Jadyn has picked up riding her bike. I think I had a picture of her riding a couple of weeks ago. Even though she uses training wheels, for a three-year old she does pretty good too.

We came back home on Sunday evening and have been home all week. It rained most of the week so I have been "trapped" indoors. We were supposed to have a business association "paint party" on Monday and Tuesday to finish painting the public restrooms downtown, but we got rained out. It managed to clear up by Thursday and our scheduled park committee work party went on as scheduled. We had to pull some weeds and reset the slate walk way as it was pretty unstable. Dave has been busy working out in the garage all week going through stuff and boxing it up so that we can start the storage/sleeping quarters in the back of the garage that we plan on starting this winter. We're calling it the "Costco Room" because that's where we'll keep all the bulk purchases we get at Costco, but it will also have bunk beds for the grandkids - if they're not too scared to sleep in there!

Dave will be making another trip into town today to announce the races and I decided to stay home this weekend. The weatherman has predicted warm and sunny weather for the weekend so maybe I can get some last minute projects done outside.
