IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

I have been home for the whole week now and it feels great! No more Blazer games to run into town for. Still, I find myself looking at the calendar - thinking I must have to go into Portland for SOMETHING! It just doesn't seem right to be able to stay home and get stuff done around here for more than a couple of days at a time!

Deweys Sunday Dave and I met them in Manzanita for the best Mexican food around (Left Coast Siesta!) after they had driven up to Cannon Beach and let the girls play in the sand. It was still quite cold out but they had a good time. They left for home around 2:00 and we had tickets to see the local theatrical group put on a reading. It was very enjoyable.

Dave has jury duty, so he has to stay pretty much close to home this month. He has to call in and find out if he has to report for jury duty each day, and he can't do that until the evening before. So far, they have not had any trials so it has been more of an inconvenience than anything. I have been having trouble with my shoulder so I finally made an appointment with the local chiropractor to see what can be done. Meanwhile, I pulled something in my back while helping to get ready for the Garden Club's plant sale, so I saw him about that too. I tell you, I feel like I am falling apart! Dr. Steve is a very thorough chiropractor and since this was my first visit with him, he interviewed me for about an hour before he started working on me. He told me that my neck was a mess and that my left leg was a half an inch shorter than my right. He realigned my back and my hip should be feeling better in a couple of days. But my shoulder is another story. In his 15 years of practice he just wasn't sure what to think, but he had it narrowed down to the rotator cuff and my humerus bone where it connects in the shoulder. He is going to think about what kind of treatment he wants me to do and I have to go back on Tuesday next week. We decided that if he can't get it healed in a month that I will have to end up going to a orthopedic doctor and have x-rays taken to see what is going on. Meanwhile he wants me to take it easy and there is LOTS of yard work to tackle, so there is no time to be laid up with a bad shoulder.

I did manage to get all my flowers planted and a few vegetables started. I re-potted all my containers this year, which is a job in itself, but after a while, the dirt needs to be changed with new fertilizer added. We have had steady winds up to around 30 miles an hour, and I have sat and watched those poor flowers on the deck bending in the wind and hoping that they make it. I keep telling myself that it is much too early to be planting anything and I am keeping my eye of the night temperatures. They've been dropping into the low 40's and I think (I hope) we're done with any freezing temps. I usually don't do any planting outside until after Memorial Day, so I am about a month early.

The credit union where we do all our banking decided to do an upgrade of its billing system. They were going to be down from the 29th of April to the 2nd of May. I myself wondered why they chose the end-of-the-month to accomplish this but Dave argues that there is really no time that is right. Anyway, the end-of-the-month is a terrible time for me because that is when I pay most of our bills. A few months ago, Dave kept nagging me about trying the automatic bill paying, so I reluctantly switched. I really like it once I got used to it, no stamps or envelopes to deal with. But then the system was down just when I wanted to pay bills, so it was frustrating. Anyway, the system upgrade got installed and on the 2nd of May, I guess they were deluged with calls and concerns because there were a lot of bugs that they hadn't expected. Imagine that! We had to think up new passwords and ID numbers and that is all I needed were more ID's and passwords to remember! I don't even try anymore. Anybody wants to know how to get into my online account, the passwords are right up on the wall in front of me so I can get online myself!
