IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

AJ AJ Last Saturday was a birthday party for my oldest granddaughter, Ashtin. She turned six on August 29th, but since they were leaving on Sunday to go camping, the birthday party was on Saturday at Willamette Park in Salem. The birthday theme was "Kim Possible" (a character on the Disney Channel), so the cake had to have "Kim Possible" on it and there were green and yellow balloons. The balloons were short lived however, as her cousin Jadyn "accidentally" released them and they were floating towards the heavens the last time we saw them. Ashtin was heartbroken and Jadyn who is two, couldn't understand what the problem was. All was forgiven though and Ashtin had a great time with all of her cousins. She received a lot of fun gifts, including lots of money. I asked her for a loan but she turned me down.

Beans After the party, I headed back down to the coast for a couple of days, mainly to see if the place was still intact and my flowers hadn't dried up from lack of water. Dave had done a real good job holding down the fort while I was away. I washed clothes, knocked down a few spider webs that had taken over in the living room, cleaned the bathroom, watered and fertilized my plants and picked my green beans. I felt like the "cleaning lady" by the time I was finished. Dave got home on Sunday and I fixed him a nice breakfast and a good dinner so he wouldn't forget who I was and then I headed back into West Linn to finish up the week babysitting for Lara.

Jake It was another fun-filled week of babysitting the grandkids. We spent some time at the park playing and I think I will never get some of the songs out of my head that Jadyn loves to listen to. She loves being the "big sister" and as even mimicked her Mom with feeding her baby! I finished up on Wednesday and I will have to admit that I miss their little smiling faces each day. They were such good girls for their grandma.

Oh! We did have a pleasant surprise on Thursday. Our good friends, Ed and Diane Avila from Eugene, dropped by on their way to Cannon Beach for the weekend. We decided to get together with them for dinner because both Dave and Ed were having birthdays (Ed's was the 1st and Dave's is the 3rd of September). I mentioned this to the waitress at dinner and they brought them desserts of their choice. They also got the entire staff singing "Happy Birthday" to them, which I don't think either one of them appreciated, but heck, they got a free dessert out of it anyway!

Our plans for Labor Day weekend are low key, Dave has to work the races both Friday and Saturday nights. The family is getting together on Saturday and throw Dave a little party to celebrate his birthday and then on Monday, we are headed south for Ashland and beyond. We will be gone around 10 days so I don't know if I will have anything to post until we get back. I promise lots of pictures of our trip.
