IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

It is also tax day and I hope everyone has done their taxes and has that little task out of the way. Dave and I had our taxes taken care of in February, so there!! We had to pay the Feds this year but not as much as we thought we would. Thank you Mr. CPA. Interesting that the IRS has the "automatic bill pay" thing figured out and now they just take what we owe them right out of the checking account on the 15th! All I have to do is remember to have enough in the bank to cover the withdrawl! Wouldn't do to bounce a check, even an electronic one, with the IRS!

Saturday was my middle granddaughter, Paige's birthday. She turned three and had her party at a pizza parlor in Salem. It was hectic with lots of cousins running about but the pizza place at least had a special room with games for the kids to have fun in. Cousin Jadyn had a ball in the "ball cage"! Paige's birthday theme was "Tinkerbell" and she had a cake all decorated for the occasion. She didn't have any trouble blowing out her candles. We gave her a Tinker Bell swimming suit, sandals and a "Tink" t-shirt. She also got some fairy princess dress up clothes and numerous toys and clothes.

After the party, Dave and I headed home. We went home through Salem, so it was a different route. It took us exactly two hours, which is the same amount of time that it takes us when we are in West Linn. It is just a different route. It was kind of nice, because the other way gets kind of old when we're driving it a couple of times a week.

Sunday we just relaxed and got caught up with things around the house. We have both had real bad colds, and even though we were feeling better, we really didn't feel like doing too much. We have had terrific wind/rain/hail storms all week so I wasn't able to get any yard work done. I did manage to keep myself busy by painting the walls in the utility room. Unfortunately, I ran out of paint (I had about a half a wall to go) so I couldn't finish. Our contractor was in Portland to pick up some more material for our project and we caught him on the phone and persuaded him to stop by the paint store and get me another quart. So by Monday afternoon, I had my paint. Anyway, now the painting is all done and the countertops are complete and it really is looking good. Dave put the cupboard doors back on and next week he is going to install some track lighting for better visibility. I want to make new valences for the windows and then we will be all done with that project. I promise a picture when it is completed.

I also started my water aerobics classes again. I was going to start last week but I had such a cold... I know excuses, excuses. But I am back at it again and am feeling the pain. That's good, I guess. I keep telling myself that in the long run, I will feel better.

After actually having three whole days at home, we headed back into town on Thursday. We had a Blazer game that night (only two more to go!) and we also had our cholesterol checked. When we were at the doctor last week to try to get Dave's cold from developing into something worse, the Doc said he wanted both of us to get our cholesterol tests done...NOW! So we got to starve ourselves Wednesday night and Thursday morning and go in for the tests. Then after that, it was back to the Jeep place! That darn Jeep that we just had the new transmission put in is acting up. The "check engine" light is back on and the transmission is making a funny, high-pitched noise. Well, not funny, I guess, but you know what I mean. So it's back in the shop to get checked out. That means - who knows when we will get it back but I sure hope they get it right this time!!
