IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!

Welcome aboard!

This is the first day of starting a new phase in my life. After working all of my life, I am finally going to get to retire!

My husband and I live in a small town on the Northern Oregon Coast. It is great here. No smog, no traffic jams or a morning rush hour to deal with, no strip malls, no McDonalds and the closest chain store is 25 miles away! There are about 400 people in this town. My husband inherited our home after his mother died from a tragic accident in January, and I am in the process of making this home feel like our place. The house sits on a million dollar view. We have the beautiful Nehalem Bay and Neahkahnie Mountain out our front window. There is always something going on. Either watching an elk herd on the nearby island or spotting a couple of young eagles searching for food in the river.

I have been asked what I am going to do with all my spare time now that I am not working. Well, I have many plans, which include gardening, volunteer work at the local health clinic, taking a watercolor class from the local artists in town and traveling. There are also my grandchildren who will keep me busy. You can link to them on the "captainbell" website.

Also, my husband's hobby includes a steamboat, the CAPTAIN BELL, hence the name of the web page. He is the captain and I am the second mate. I will write about all our adventures on the CAPTAIN BELL in future entries.

We also own a small business called "On the Air" (another link) which is a broadcast engineering business. We produce radio sports broadcasts and I help with that too.

I plan on writing in this journal every Friday to let you know what is happening in our lives and what our future plans are. I picked Friday because Friday is my favorite day!!

If you have any comments or opinions, please feel free to contact me using the link at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for coming aboard!
